2017 Information
Our dates are set for 2017: July 20-23, 2017. We plan at this time to be at Atwater Estate Vineyards this year for our main host winery.  Local folks should come down and shop our great greyhound vendors on Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22!  Come on down!

Cabin Available  Check with Vineyard  Villas for cabins close to Atwater.  One available at this time (7/15).  607-882-2345

New Grapehounds T-Shirt Check out

our new Grapehound Wine Tour T-shirt

for 2017!  It's a deep burgundy color with

white lettering and it's in our online store.

There's no shipping cost if you reserve one

in our online store and pick it up at the

Grapehounds event on Friday (7/21) or

Saturday (7/22).!

Rooms Available  Rooms are still available at Holiday Inn-Waterloo.  Pet fees waived.  Come on down!

New "Adopt a Greyhound" Cap

We have a new universal baseball cap,

designed by Kent Roberts.  We think this

is the coolest greyhound cap around!

These also can be purchased/reserved for

pick-up at The Grapehound Wine Tour®

in our online store.

Vendors  We have updated our vendors

list (right column) for 2017.  Our vendors

come to our event from nine states, from Florida to Maine!

Lakeside Resort still has rooms available for our weekend.  We are trying to set up a three day rate for Grapehounds folks with their owner.  See Hotels page for details.

Room Available  Carol Becker and Alison Smith have a room available for July 21-22 (Fri & Sat) in their A-Frame at Seneca Lodge. The room is upstairs and has two single beds.  The A-Frame has a fully-functioning kitchen, living room with TV and A/C.  Unfortunately they are at their two-dog limit so the person who rents this room cannot bring a doggie.  Contact Carol at godsgreyts@mac.com

Rasta Ranch is having their monthly Sip and Shop on Sunday, July 23, with music and a food truck.  Just down the road from Atwater Estate.  Great sixties vibe.  Check it out.

Golf Cart  Because the hills at Atwater Estate present challenges for some folks, we have a golf cart and driver available at the registration desk if someone needs a lift up the hill to the winery or to a car that's pretty far away.  Just ask for help at the registration desk.

Nail Clipping  Carol Becker from God's Greyts in Florida will be at Atwater Estate Vineyards 11AM-4PM on Friday and Saturday to do clip doggie's nails.  Proceeds go to Carol's adoption group, God's Greyts.

Advance Registration closes Friday evening (7/15).   However, you may still register at the event.  Our headquarters is Atwater Estate Vineyards, 5055 NY St. Rte. 414 near Burdett, NY.   If you just wish to shop our great vendors and not taste wine around the lake, just stop on down on Friday or Saturday:  you need not register just to shop.  We have top greyhound vendors from ten states.

Cindy McConnell will play guitar and sing at The Grapehound Wine Tour® at the event, time and place to be determined.

Ebooklet   About a week before the event, we send out a detailed E-booklet to everyone who is registered.  If you are not registered, we do not send you all this detailed information about the event.  (We wouldn't know who to send it to!)  We print some E-Booklets for people who register at the door but we can't print many of them due to the expense.  It's always best to support greyhound adoption and register for any event.

Early Bird Check-in and On-Site Registration

Hot Weather  Each year about this time we get a spell of 90 degree days and people start asking me about hot weather concerns.  Here's the deal.  Unless you live north of the Arctic Circle, the Finger Lakes will likely be cooler than where you are now.  (2016 was an exception:  it was hot!)  The average high in the Finger Lakes for our time of year is actually about 81.  Usually that's the weather we have.  However some years we have had some humidity and last year we had temperatures over 90 for the first time in 11 years.  Fortunately, we had a cool lake next to us.  Temperatures for this year are forecast to be in the low to mid 80's, which is typical of this time of year.

For that reason we have pools for the dogs, shaded tents and air conditioned wineries.  Plus there is always a good breeze off a big lake that has some very cold water.  Suffice it to say that the Finger Lakes are a cooler place to be during hot weather than most other places.

Early Bird Activities  For those who arrive early in the Finger Lakes, we will list here activities that are going on at area wineries and at other local attractions.

Hazlitt 2017  Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards will be our Welcome winery this July on Thursday night (7/20).  They have a gorgeous outdoor oasis pavilion and sell wine by the glass and beer.  We will have Global Taco back to provide dinner entrees.  They were so popular last year they sold out of several types of tacos.  Now they know how hungry we Grapehounds can get.

Walk to the Falls  Our walk to Taughannock falls is on for Sunday, July 23th.at 10AM.   Bille Axell Photography will be on hand to take waterfall portraits of you and your hound.

Seneca Lodge  Those who stay at Seneca Lodge know that they had implemented a "two-dog" rule due to some damage caused in 2014.  They have also made some changes to their reservation policy.

Food Options Abound  We plan to have three food vendors throughout the event this year.  Global Taco was a big hit last year at our Welcome event.  They will be back this year at Hazlitt for our Welcome event on Thursday evening, along with the Pi Truck.  Bring your appetite!  The Little Red Wagon will be our food vendor on Friday and Saturday at the Atwater Estate Vineyards host site.  Their menu is posted in our E-Booklet.  Then the Pi Truck will be back at Fulkerson Winery on Sunday.

New Participants

This year we are excited to welcome the Lucky Hare Brewing Co. (6085 Beckhorn Rd., Hector, NY 14841) along with Boundary Breaks Vineyard (1568 Porter Covert Rd., Lodi NY 14660)  on the East Shore of Seneca Lake and Senenity Vineyards (930 Davy Rd.,  Penn Yan, NY 14527) on the northern west shore.  We also welcome Scale House Brewing to our lineup of some thirty participating wineries, brew pubs and distilleries.
