The Grapehound Wine Tour
Cayuga Lake, NY
July 24-27, 2008
UPDATES!
Don't miss
the welcome at Montezuma Winery on Thursday, July 24.
You can
check in for wine tasting there, start your wine tasting
adventure,
and relax with live music. Better yet, you won't have
to leave for dinner:
the winery will offer wine by the glass
and a catered barbecue offering
1/2 chicken with two sides for
$9. He's even grilling chicken hot dogs for
the hounds for 50
cents apiece! We will also have a variety of vendors on
hand
just for this evening event. You won't want to miss this
spectacular
Thursday evening event to kick off Grapehounds 2008.
The walk to Taughannock Falls on Sunday morning at 9 AM will also
offer
a walk up the Rim Trail to the top of the walls of the gorge
looking
down on T-Falls--as well as the established walk to the base of
the
Falls.
Plan
to stay through Monday, as Americana Winery will offer two
free
concerts on Sunday afternoon with two different musical
groups. Have a
glass of wine, browse the vendors, and relax. You're not going
anywhere!
We will be having a raffle this year to benefit the participating
New
York adoption groups. Donated items will be displayed at the
wineries
from Thursday until the drawing at Cayuga Ridge Winery late
Saturday
afternoon.
Colonial Veterinary Hospital of Ithaca will be our primary pet
care
contact for the Grapehounds weekend. Check them out at
http://www.colonialvet.com/
- Grapehounds 2008 will be
expanded to begin on Thursday evening, July 24, and continue through
Sunday, July 27. This extra "day" should allow attendees more time so
that they can visit more wineries on the Cayuga Wine Trail.
One of our new events for
2008 is our "Get Acquainted" session from 5-7 PM on Friday at Knapp
Winery. If you can't arrive in time for the Thursday welcome, plan to
be at Knapp. A short presentation on the weekend events will be
made. Wine by the glass and hors d'oeurves will be available. This
is your chance to meet new people, network a little, and talk with the
organizers of the event.
Once again, Buttonwood Grove
Winery is having a concert under the stars for hounds and humans with
wine by the glass. Bring your quilt, relax and listen to the music
with your best friends and favorite hounds.
Forever Home Greyhound
Adoption will be running a fenced, supervised babysitting
area on Saturday and Sunday for tired, older or infirm greyhounds at
Cayuga Ridge Estate Winery. The enclosure under a huge shade tree
will have a double gate, a six foot fence, plenty of water dishes and
experienced greyhound folks to oversee the doggies comfort and
safety. Drop off your pup to snooze in supervised safety while you
taste wine and shop.
Volunteers from Harbor
Hounds will be taking care of older or infirm hounds at the
walk to Taughannock Falls who cannot make the 3/4 mile walk to the
Falls. Just drop off you pup with them and enjoy the walk while your
hound snoozes with experienced greyhound folks and waits for the ice
cream social to begin.
