There are both
private and state park campgrounds in the
area between Seneca Lake to
the west and Cayuga lake to the east. If you want a tenting site,
there are lots to choose from among public and private campgrounds.
If you want water, electric and sewer, you are mainly limited to the
private campgrounds in the area. The state parks have a limited
number of electric sites and none with water or sewer on the site
itself.
If you do not
book early, there may be no campsites left with hookups by May or
June. Even the primitive state park sites fill up fast in summer.
Call the private campgrounds at the numbers listed to book a campsite;
use www.Recreation.gov to reserve a space at a state park in the area.
The list below may not be complete.
Because of the cold
winters, many campgrounds are basically closed for the winter and are
only partially staffed. Reservations in some cases at the private
campgrounds may be difficult to make until spring.
